FINAL DRAFT Essay Writing Workshop
Have a Say in Your College Essay For College
Through the VoicED teaching method, students overcome the fear of writing an essay and discover writing as an empowering activity that requires creative thinking and clear expression. Writers will choose the correct topics for the college of choice, beginning with brainstorming to choose the correct form of essay and the correct storyline and begin to structure and organize their ideas.
We ask all rising high school seniors to express their beliefs and thoughts. Every essay written, whether highlighting a passion or extracurriculars, is a chance to express oneself authentically. We challenge writers to think critically as they develop their ideas and offer them the tools to present and organize their arguments effectively.
Before finalizing the personal statement, we practice identifying and crafting the colorful and meaningful stories that helped shape you and illuminate who you are as a person. This workshop is open to all high schoolers who want to build the foundational skills to write a compelling admissions essay. Our college essay workshops begin in June and are held in person and online. All high school students are invited to choose their format, and they can make up missed classes if needed.
Workshops and Private Sessions
Students can receive essay writing instruction through the Essay Writing Workshop or Private Sessions. Workshops have a maximum of six participants. The goal for each writer is to develop an essay with a coherent and meaningful argument. Sessions are peppered with original and vibrant writing exercises, but focus primarily on exploring essay topics, drafting, completing, revising, and polishing essays. When developing project ideas, writers can choose subject matter that interests them.
This workshop guarantees a complete Personal Statement for the Common Application by the end.
